Outdoor Audio & Landscape Systems

Transform Your Outdoors with Premium Audio

An outdoor audio system isn’t just about sound—it’s about creating a vibe. Whether it’s a relaxing evening on the patio, a lively pool party, or a cozy gathering around the fire pit, the right audio system enhances the ambiance of your outdoor space and makes every moment more enjoyable.

The Importance of Great Design
Outdoor audio requires more than just placing a few speakers around the yard. Sound behaves differently outdoors—there are no walls to contain it, and open spaces can dilute the audio experience. That’s why thoughtful design is essential.

A well-designed outdoor audio system delivers clear, even sound coverage throughout your space without overwhelming one area or leaving another too quiet. Every speaker and subwoofer is strategically placed to create a seamless soundscape that complements your environment and keeps the focus on the experience, not the equipment.

Outdoor Video

Outdoor Video That Delivers the Ultimate Experience

Why settle for a boring backyard when you can turn it into the ultimate entertainment space with a custom outdoor video system? At Perfect Angle, we bring the big screen outside, whether you’re watching the game poolside, hosting movie night under the stars, or keeping up with your favorite shows while grilling up a feast. Here’s everything you need to know to make your outdoor video setup as epic as it deserves to be.

Choosing the Right Outdoor TV
  • Full Shade
For those cozy shaded areas like a covered patio or screened-in porch, full-shade TVs are the perfect solution. These affordable weatherproof displays offer crisp, bright visuals that hold up year-round without breaking the bank. They’re an excellent choice for the budget-conscious outdoor enthusiast who still wants a little slice of the good life.
  • Partial Shade
Got a mix of sun and shade? A partial-shade TV is your answer. Designed to handle the occasional glare, these TVs are brighter and more durable than their full-shade counterparts. Perfect for spaces like the side of the house or a semi-open deck, they’re tough enough to handle a splash of sunlight and a summer thunderstorm.
  • Full Sun
Meet the king of outdoor TVs. Full-sun models are built to dominate harsh environments, from poolside setups to wide-open patios. With the brightest displays, superior weatherproofing, and glare-resistant technology, these TVs are made for the ultimate viewing experience—even in direct sunlight. If you’re planning on hosting a Super Bowl bash by the pool, this is the TV for you.

The Importance of Professional Design

An outdoor video setup is about more than just the TV—it’s about creating an experience. Proper placement, viewing angles, and integration with your outdoor space make all the difference. At Perfect Angle, we consider every detail to ensure your outdoor entertainment system looks stunning and performs flawlessly.

Mapping the Electricity

Once you’ve chosen your TV, it’s time to figure out where the power will come from. If you’ve got an outlet nearby, great! If not, we’ve got options:

  • Adjacent Outlets: We can tap into an indoor outlet through the wall.
  • Conduits: For areas without close access, we run discreet conduits along the wall for a seamless look.
  • Crawlspaces, Attics, or Basements: When necessary, we’ll work with these access points to deliver a clean and reliable solution.

All power connections are installed in weatherproof outdoor boxes, keeping everything safe and tidy.

Mounting Matters

Your mounting choice is key to getting the most out of your outdoor video system. Here’s how to pick the right one:

  • Swivel Mounts: Ideal for flexible viewing angles, perfect for larger outdoor spaces.
  • Tilting Mounts: Great for TVs mounted higher up, like above a bar or fireplace.
  • Flat Mounts: Best for compact spaces but less ideal outdoors due to limited room for outlet boxes.

Our team ensures every mount is secure and optimized for your space.

Bring the Sound to Life

What’s a great outdoor video setup without stellar sound? Let’s face it—most outdoor TVs fall short in the audio department. Here’s how we fix it:

  • Soundbars: Sleek, weatherproof, and stylish, these attach directly to your TV for easy audio enhancement.
  • Landscape Audio Systems: The gold standard for outdoor sound, these systems deliver immersive audio with speakers placed strategically throughout your yard. Whether it’s the roar of the crowd during the big game or the bass drop in your favorite movie, outdoor audio systems provide a cinematic experience that soundbars can’t match.

Tips For Choosing An Outdoor System

When preparing to do a backyard system we have to take a look at where the amplifiers will be housed, as they need to be in a well-ventilated area.  If the customer wants a 70v system we recommend placing the unit inside a rack specially designed to hold amplifiers.  If the customer is choosing to go with a set of Sonos stereo amplifiers then it is okay to place these on the wall in the basement, making stereo the way to go in terms of price.  Although 70v systems are superior to stereo in many areas they come with a rather large price tag.  Another benefit of 70v is that the same amplifier powering your 70v speakers can often be used to power the subwoofer as well, we call this a two-channel amp where one channel goes to the subwoofer, and the other goes to the speakers.  The benefit of stereo in this category is we can put in a great system with less equipment, and less preparation and a Sonos amp can basically be installed anywhere there is wifi and power.

"Should I Hang An Indoor TV Outside?"

Before we choose our outdoor TV type I’m sure most people are thinking about this question here.  We understand the allure of installing an indoor TV outside and we are here to give you the most honest advice on the subject.  At Perfect Angle, we have installed several TVs outside but this is probably our most common question.  There are several reasons not to install an indoor TV outside, and one of them is moisture.  TVs can only handle so much abuse, and TVs are getting more and more fragile every year.  The biggest reason not to put an indoor TV outside would be the cold.  Your TV will most likely not last for the winter, and even if you decide to bring the TV inside every year you will ultimately put your TV in danger of breaking when you decide to keep it in the corner of the garage for the winter.  There are several reasons why you should not take this route, and the biggest reason would be money, we hate to see you throw away hard-earned money on a TV that will likely end up broken within a few months.  We understand that outdoor TVs come at a cost, but they are often worth it in the long run.  There are a lot of companies that provide outdoor boxes for TVs that claim to protect the TV, and although this might protect the TV from direct weather, it will not protect it from the harsh winter conditions or the moisture buildup of our Long Island climate.  These outdoor TV boxes also come with a much larger labor cost as they are more difficult to install than a normal outdoor TV.  However, if this is the route you would like to take, and you are someone who likes to gamble, then we are happy to take on this task for you.

What is a 70v system?

70v system is different than a stereo system in that it creates a wider range of coverage in the area it is installed. Normally, we use a stereo system with some rock speakers or wall speakers to pump music in different zones. A 70v system uses mono speakers (stereo in one speaker rather than two) conveniently placed around the yard and can be controlled individually through a small adjustment knob. For instance, if you want the pool speakers to be louder than a seating area where people are talking this can easily be done by adjusting the sound on the individual speaker rather than turning the volume down on that entire zone. So the music can be nice and loud in a larger area while keeping the audio to nice background music in areas where people might be having more conversation. A 70v system gives the feeling of a louder sound without bothering the neighbors.

Stereo or 70-volt?

Both stereo and 70v systems have their advantages and disadvantages, but both can be paired with massive subwoofers that can be buried underground for a rich and deep immersive experience. If the neighbors aren’t an issue then you might be able to save yourself a few dollars on an external sub and go with some decent-sized rock speakers.  These speakers are designed to look like rocks and camouflage into their surroundings.  Rock speakers however only come in stereo, and although stereo speakers are a bit cheaper they do come with a nice quality and bass upgrade.  Whereas a 70v system will almost always have to be paired with an external subwoofer to get a rich bass performance, a decent set of stereo rock or stereo wall speakers can really amplify your experience without the need for an external subwoofer.

Wiring and Speaker placement

Another crucial step in the preparation phase is where we will be installing the speakers in your yard as there are almost always some opticals to overcome such as patios, pools, and vegetation.  Obstacles usually increase the length of the wire needed to be run, while vegetation is a great way to get wires ran quickly and efficiently offering less area that needs to be trenched.  A good line of trees or bushes is great for running wires to an area that will also allow the wire to stay above ground and away from the harsh conditions of the ground.  Once we have determined the length and path the wires will take we can then start mapping out the locations we will be placing the speakers.  We want stereo speakers to be at the edges of the property to increase the audio coverage, adding multiple zones to immerse the area in music.  With a 70v system, we are placing speakers as close to the action as possible, and this will allow the speakers to be adjusted later.  70v speakers will be placed around the perimeter of the home and close to the seating areas and places where people will be hanging out the most.  Another great benefit of a 70v speaker system is that they only require one wire for several speakers, as long as the wattage of each speaker doesn’t exceed the draw from the amplifier several speakers can be “daisy chained” to the next one in line.  This is great because it allows customers to add speakers at any time by simply connecting to the next speaker in line.  While a stereo speaker set will have to have one line run to each speaker and we have to consider ohms law when hooking up more than two speakers to a stereo amplifier 70v shines in the category of multiple speakers.

In conclusion

No matter what type of system you choose or how many speakers you need we can guarantee we will be there for you to make the hard decisions with your outdoor system.  Now that you are more prepared we hope that you’ll be able to take on this project with an open mind.  It is important that we give our customers sound advice and products that will last for years to come.  Give us a call and we will do our best to help guide you in the right direction when it comes to outdoor landscape systems.

Outdoor Lighting

When it comes to outdoor lighting we’ve got you covered and then some.  It takes a unique set of skills, design talent, and a lot of knowledge in order to make a good lighting system and we are no strangers when it comes to the field of lighting.  Let us take care of the design, the zoning, running the wires, and choosing the right system for you.

  • App-Controlled Smart Lighting

When it comes to lighting up your home there are multiple types of lighting that go into a good design.  From color changing, multiple zones, up-lights, downlights, turf lights, and even lights that can be placed underwater to highlight fountain features we can do it all. The most common is the up-light which is used to light up your trees and bushes but can also be used to highlight the architecture of the house as well.  In this photo here we are using up lighting to highlight the pillars of the home, and we have step lighting that is placed conveniently inside of the steps to cascade down as you step off of your porch.

Types of Lighting

Down Lighting

When it comes to outdoor areas such as pergolas, showers, and porches we typically use down lighting to give a nice bright space without overwhelming the area.  These come in multiple different shades, styles, and color-changing options, and have special filters to make them appear more natural or give a “moonlight” effect in some cases.

Pendant Lighting

In this scenario here we have placed a down pendant light on a rock feature to highlight the area and to make it more visible from the street.  This allows the customer to see the home better when they arrive at night.  Without this feature, it was extremely difficult for the customer to find the home since this road in particular has no street lighting.

Pendant Lighting Example 2

Here we used a pendant light to give a cascading street light effect, it gives more space to the area and makes it feel more safe.  Where this parking lot was dark before it is now subtly lit and visible which takes away that feeling of being alone in a dark space.  With a blue light filter here we can make this look more natural like moonlighting to simulate a full moon effect.

9 LED Uplighting

When it comes to flag poles and other tall objects and trees a 9 LED up light can be used to highlight tall features.  Here on a flag pole, it is recommended based on the height of the pole to have two spotlights, one for the flag and one to illuminate the pole.  For other objects like tall bushes, we use 3 LED lights.

Uplighting and Wash Lighting

In this scene, we are using two 3 LED uplights to highlight these beautiful crepe myrtles in a lovely dark scene.  We can also see a bit of edge lighting or path lighting that really helps to highlight the edge of the parking lot at night so the homeowners and guests can visibly see the end of the lot.  At the same time, we can also see how a wider 3 LED wash light gives that really amazing washed-out look on the rock feature.  This is called washing the rocks, and it’s done with a wider lens than the traditional straight beam on a regular uplight.

Underwater Lighting

One of the most beautiful effects of a landscape is the water features, and without the proper lighting, they would disappear into this nightscape.  They leave behind a lustrous comfortable feeling that shines and glistens against any rock feature.  Adding color changing to a water feature is absolutely recommended as it gives just the right mood lighting to a romantic backdrop.
